THE NUMBER 4
The number 4 is said to be bad luck and you can find many elevators in Korea wiht the number 4 replaced wiht the letter "F".
숫자 4는 불운이나 죽음을 의미한다. 엘리베이터에서 4층은 F로 쓴다.
NAME IN RED
If you wnat people to think you wnat them dead, then write their name in red ink. People think it brings very bad luck and even death.
빨간색으로 누군가의 이름을 쓰면 안좋은 일이 생기거나 죽는다.
FAN DEATH
Some people believe that leaving the fan on inside a closed room while you sleep will kill you. This is one of the more well known superstitions of Korea.
방문 닫고 선풍기 틀고 자면 죽는다.
WHISHTLING AT NIGHT
Some people say that whistling at night will bring spirits or ghosts. in order to prevent this from happening, some people will stop you from doing it.
밤에 휘파람 불면 귀신 온다.
SHOES AS GIFTS
It is said that giving shoes to your significant other could cause them to run away. If shoes are given as a gift, some people will pay a small amount to prevent it from happening.
신발을 선물하면 도망간다.
DEOKSUGUNG PATH
Copules in the past would have to walk down this road to get to the divorce court in Seoul. Some say you will breakup soon if you walk down this path.
연인이 덕수궁 돌담길 같이 걸으면 헤어진다.
DREAMING OF PIGS AT NIGHT
If you have dreamed of pigs lately, it could mean that lots of money is on its way to you.
돼지 꿈을 꾸면 행운이 온다.
TBUTTERFLIES MAKE YOU GO BLIND
Touched a butterfly or moth lately? Don't touch your eyes afferward or you could lose your eyesight. This superstition is not as popular now.
나비나 나방을 만지고 눈 만지면 실명한다.
CHICKEN WINGS
If you give your husband or boyfriend chicken wings, it could cause him to "Fly" away from you since his belly is full of wings. Any winged bird is fair game.
남편이나 남친에게 닭날개 먹이면 바람 핀다.
JUNPING OVER YOUR BABY
Jumping over your baby will cause it not to grow taller. It's also good advice to... just not jump over babies if you don't want to risk getting arrested for killing your baby.
아기 위로 뚜어 넘으면 그 아기는 키가 크지 않는다.
어렸을때 부모님 또는 할머니들에게 많이 듣던 이야기... 몇가지가 더 있죠. 밥상 모서리에 앉으면 귀신이 붙는다. 김밥 꼬다리를 남자가 먹으면 되는 일도 안된다.
